The research and production group at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) that developed the existing monoclonal antibody high throughput technology, have been recruited to Monash University to establish and operate a new Monoclonal Antibody Technology Facility.
The intellectual property and expertise of the existing EMBL monoclonal facility will be directly transferred to the MATF. The MATF will maintain the relationships developed at the EMBL core facility with the international biopharma industry.
In addition to the translation of existing proprietary technology and expertise, the MATF will continue to generate powerful new assays (processes to determine protein activity and/or abundance) with applicability in discovery research and drug development. The proposed research and development activities will give MATF a unique and powerful ability to comprehensively characterise activated proteins and protein complexes.
